Cuphead dev Studio MDHR wants to make a Zelda game

We'd buy it.

Cuphead developer Studio MDHR would love to make a Zelda game, it’s recently been revealed.

Speaking with Nintendo Force (via Destructoid), Studio MDHR’s Jared Moldenhauer detailed the type of Legend of Zelda game he’d to to make.

Moldenhauer said he’d develop “a sprawling Zelda title brought to life in a doting 2D hand-animated style.

“Think of all the expressiveness and life you could bring to the tribes, people, and enemies of a universe that rich,” he continued “And much like Cuphead, we would get to test our design mettle coming up with screen-filling bosses of an entirely different nature. Of course, backgrounds would be completely hand-painted with nothing re-used.”

The idea of an indie studio making a proper Zelda game mightn’t be as farfetched as it once was; the recent Cadence of Hyrule was developed by Brace Yourself Games.

Would you like to see a Legend of Zelda game done in the style of Cuphead?

Cuphead is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and Switch.
