You can’t trade loot in Destiny at launch

As an MMO and as anyone who’s played the beta would be aware, loot plays a fairly large role in Destiny. Being an online multiplayer game, you’d expect that players would be trade their loot with others, but in Destiny, there’s no way to do so. At least at launch.

In Bungie’s most recent weekly update, the developer — responding to a fan question — revealed that Guardians will not be able to trade loot in the Tower. “As for swapping irons in the Tower? Nope. We want you to earn ‘em. You should be able to tell a badass story for every sweet jewel in your arsenal. Once you earn them, the various Guardians under your account will be able to trade them, but weapons belong to the players who acquire them through action and bravery.”

It seems as though you’ll be able to equip your own additional Guardians, but not those of your friends. Gamespot notes that Bungie has previously said it would consider adding the feature in at a later date.

Destiny will launch for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One 9 September.
