Bayonetta voice actor urges players to boycott Bayonetta 3

Original voice actor Hellena Taylor, that is.

Original Bayonetta voice actor Hellena Taylor has urged players to boycott Bayonetta 3 after alleging PlatinumGames offered her an “insulting” offer to reprise the role.

Hot on the heels of news Mass Effect‘s Jennifer Hale would take over the voice of Bayonetta for the upcoming sequel, Taylor took to Twitter with her plea.

“I am asking the fans to boycott [Bayonetta 3], and instead spend the money that you would have spent on this game donating it to charity,” Taylor said in one of four videos posted to the social media platform.

“I didn’t want the world. I didn’t ask for too much. I was just asking for a decent, dignified, living wage,” Taylor continued. “What they did was legal, but it was immoral.”

Taylor continued on to say that she auditioned for Bayonetta 3 and was then sent an “insulting offer” for pay. After reaching out to PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya, Taylor alleges the offer was bumped up to $4,000 USD, which she also declined.

In light of Taylor’s allegations, Kamiya also took to Twitter, writing, “Sad and deplorable about the attitude of untruth. That’s what all I can tell now. By the way, BEWARE OF MY RULES [sic].”

Kamiya’s tweet has since been deleted.

Prior to Taylor’s allegations, PlatinumGames’ Yusuke Miyata said that “various overlapping circumstances made it difficult for Hellena Taylor to reprise her role”.

Bayonetta 3 heads to Nintendo Switch on 28 October.
