Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox save workaround detailed ahead of fix

Baldur’s Gate 3 Xbox save workaround has been detailed ahead of an actual fix to those facing game save problems on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

Microsoft has acknowledged an issue with Xbox Series game saves, saying it’s “aware of a problem that can cause players to lose saved progress”. Microsoft also advised it is “working to fix this ASAP”.

The issues with saves appear to be occuring when players quit out of the game, so the workaround involves a very specific way to finish off your play session.

“In order to avoid this issue players should save their game and then return to the Xbox dashboard and select ‘Quit Game’ or ‘Save to Quick Resume’ from the game menu (Home, Game, Select, and then choose ‘Save to Quick Resume’ or ‘Quit’) when they finish playing,” Microsoft advised.

“Users should not disconnect their console from the power,” Microsoft continued. “Users should select ‘shut down’ from the console menu and leave their Xbox connected to power.”

Earlier this week, developer Larian released an Xbox-specific patch aimed at stability issues. It looks like there’s still a bit of work to be done.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available now on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PS5.
