Avengers’ MCU skins need to be purchased, can’t be earned

Another dumb move by Crystal Dynamics...

Avengers will soon receive Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) skins but they’ll need to be purchased with real-world money, developer Crystal Dynamics has recently confirmed.

The skins are part of the game’s Red Room Takeover event, one that coincides with the release of Black Widow to movie theatres (or your home TV screen) in July.

An initial tweet from Crystal Dynamics said that MCU skins would be offered as “featured rewards” alongside items like animated nameplayes, though a second tweet later clarified that those specific items would be paid-only.

“To clarify, the outfits inspired by the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be available exclusively in the Marketplace for purchase with credits,” the follow-up tweet proclaimed.

What do you make of Crystal Dynamics decision to lock MCU skins behind a paywall?

Avengers is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Stadia.
