Australian developed sci-fi horror Caffeine offers up pre-release demo

Caffeine is an Australian developed sci-fi horror game being developed by solo developer Dylan Browne. Currently seeking crowd funding on IndieGoGo, Browne has released a demo to give backers and potential backers a taste of what he hopes to create. You can download the demo here.

The project’s IndieGoGo page includes a description of Caffeine that reads, “You awaken aboard a caffeine mining space station to find yourself, a young boy seemingly all alone. The only thing you know for sure? Something bad has transpired here… Confused and alone, you start to explore this seemingly derelict space station finding cryptic notes and messages everywhere you look, could these be clues to what has happened?”

The description also mentions that Caffeine will focus on narrative and puzzles and will not include any weapons which puts it in the same genre of horror games as recent released such as Outlast, Dayight, Amnesia and Slender. The game will run on the Unreal 4 engine and Oculus Rift support. At this stage Browne has only confirmed a windows PC release, but hasn’t ruled out a port to Mac, Linux, PS4 and/or Xbox One.

The project is seeking $80,000 funding and has currently raised $2,996. There are only eight days left of the campaign as of writing.
