Apple AirPods Pro 2 switch to USB-C charging

About time.

It’s just just the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max that are switching to USB-C charging — Apple today announced the the AirPods Pro (2nd generation) will also follow suit.

“The new AirPods Pro are updated with a USB‐C connector, so it’s easy to use a single cable to charge Mac, iPad, AirPods, and the iPhone 15 line-up,” Apple said in a press release.

“Users can even charge AirPods directly with iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max, which also come with a USB‐C connector.”

The AirPods Pro (2nd generation) are priced at $399 AUD locally. We sang the praises of the AirPods Pro 2 — though the version with a Lightning connector and not a USB-C one — right here.

If a wired connection is more your thing, Apple will also sell wired EarPods with a USB-C connector for $29 AUD. You can grab new headphones at the Apple Store.
