Anthony Starr isn’t voicing Homelander in Mortal Kombat 1

Time for a sound-a-like...

The Boys’ Anthony Starr has confirmed he will not be voicing the character of Homelander inside Mortal Kombat 1.

Homelander is just one announced DLC character heading to Mortal Kombat 1, following in the footsteps of Invincible‘s Onmi-Man. The difference between Homelander and Omni-Man is that J.K. Simmons, the actor who voices Omni-Man inside Invincible, lended his vocal talents to the NetherRealm fighter.

Fans who learned of the news on Reddit voiced their dismay.

“Not to be dramatic, but this is the most devastating one-word answer in human history,” wrote one.

“My disappointment is immeasurable, and my day is ruined,” said another.

The news comes as Mortal Kombat 1 itself is under fire for questionable monetisation practices. Fans voiced concerns over $15 AUD single Fatalities; Warner Bros has since responded and offered purchasers two additional Fatalaties as part of that transaction.

Mortal Kombat 1 is out now on Windows PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, alongside Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS5 and Switch. Our review can be found here.
