Afterlove EP demo available ahead of 2024 release date

Take a stroll through Jakarta ahead of the full release.

An Afterlove EP demo will be available for three days, ahead of the title’s full release later in 2024.

“Set in the bustling city of modern-day Jakarta, Afterlove EP follows the story of a young musician named Rama, who finds himself lost after his girlfriend Cinta unexpectedly passes away,” Fellow Traveller and developer Pikselnesia said in a press release.

“While his friends and bandmates rally by his side, Rama struggles to let go of the world he shared with Cinta. With her voice inside his head (literally!), Rama will be faced with the daunting task of moving on, finishing his first ever EP, and perhaps even finding love again.”

Afterlove EP was envisaged by developer Mohammad Fahmi, the creator of Indonesian juggernaut Coffee Talk. Fahmi sadly passed away in March 2022, just days after speaking with Stevivor about Afterlove EP and Indonesian game development.

In a delightful conversation, Fahmi told us why Afterlove EP was set in Jakarta: it was familiar to him, and also the setting of classic Indonesian films that he grew up with and loved.

“It’s too hot, it’s too humid, it’s too busy,” said Fahmi of Jakarta. “It’s a hellhole. I love it. It’s my hellhole.”

The nine remaining members of Pikselnesia announced back in September 2023 that they would continue work on Afterlove EP, intending to “[stay] true to Fahmi’s vision whilst still going through the same approach you need for a high quality narrative game.”

The Afterlove EP demo will be available on Windows PC via Steam between 10-13 May here in Australia. You can download the demo here.

Featuring art from Soyatu and an original soundtrack from L’alphaalpha, Afterlove EP heads to Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5 later in 2024.
