Activision Blizzard made $4 billion from microtransactions in 2017

Activision Blizzard made $4 billion USD in revenue from “in-game net bookings” in 2017, the publisher announced in an earnings call today.

Said revenue is comprised of DLC sales, in-app purchases and loot boxes.

Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad points out that half of that figure, $2 billion USD, comes from King mobile games like Candy Crush.

The other $2 billion USD is likely to have come from in-game purchases from titles like Overwatch, Heroes of the Storm and Hearthstone.

Are you rethinking your in-game purchases after seeing these results? What do you spend your hard earned cash on, in-game? Sound off in the comments area, below.
