Destiny 2 Faction Rally event: Here’s what you need to know [UPDATE]

Destiny 2‘s first Faction Rally event is in full swing, and we’ve got all its details for you right here.

The event will allow Guardians the chance to pledge allegiance to one of Destiny’s three factions: Dead Orbit, Future War Cult or New Monarchy. Guardians then have a week to support their faction by completing public events (actual Public Events, the Crucible, Strikes, the Raid, Lost Sectors) and earning XP through faction tokens.

Just like with normal Tower vendors, Guardians will have to cash those faction tokens in. At the end of the week, the faction with the highest amount of XP will offer its members a shiny new weapon for only 1,000 Glimmer. Guardians who aren’t part of that faction can still buy the weapon, but at the cost of 50,000 Glimmer. Talk about a discount, eh?

Here’s an explanation of each faction, alongside the weapon they’ll be offering.

Dead Orbit

Led by Arach Jalaal (above left), Dead Orbit has all but given up on the Traveler. Believing that Earth is essentially dead, Dead Orbit believes in survival before all else. They invest in finding Golden Age technology scattered around the system in an effort to abandon Earth and find a new homeworld.

  • Shader colours: Black, silver, white
  • Special weapon: Haunted Earth (Scout rifle): Its high-impact frame makes it powerful. It’s also accurate when players are stationary and aiming down sights.

Future War Cult

Lead by Lakshmi-2 (above middle), The Future War Cult believes that war is inevitable, and even more war is necessary to prepare for, um, other wars. They like fighting, alright?

  • Shader colours: Yellow, orange, blue
  • Special weapon: Heart of Time (Pulse rifle). Offers increased ammo reserves and fast reload. Has an elemental explosion delivered with precision kills.

New Monarchy

Lead by Executor Hideo (above right), New Monarchy believes that a single leadership group can bring Earth back to the Golden Age. It works with the Vanguard to find said leadership, repeating its manta: “Together we will rise.”

  • Shader colours: Silver, Grey, yellow, maroon
  • Special weapon: Interregnum XVI (Sidearm). Has great range and is fast to aim.

Which faction are you pledging loyalty to? If you’ve got three Guardians, it’s recommended to pledge one to each faction in order to ensure cheap weaponry.

Faction Rally starts at 7.00 pm AEST (2.00 am PT) tomorrow, 26 September.

Destiny 2 is available on Xbox One and PS4. It heads to Windows PC in October.
