Microsoft Flight Simulator xCloud release coming “pretty soon”

"We are already very much stream-aware," says Jorg Neumann.

Availablity of Microsoft Flight Simulator on xCloud (or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Cloud Streaming) is coming “pretty soon” according to Flight Sim head Jorg Neumann.

Speaking with Stevivor, Neumann said the transition from a local game to one streamed over the cloud was easier than one might have thought.

“It’s actually easier because… we’re streaming the world, right? Most of what you see is not on your machine — on a hard drive — or something like this,” he said.

“We are already very much stream-aware, for us it was actually pretty damn straightforward,” he continued. “It was a joyful experience to work with the team. That xCloud team [is] doing really cool stuff; and very collaborative. You’ll see it pretty soon.

“It’s very cool and it changes things… in unexpected ways. For example, downloading a build doesn’t take time… that’s not really there anymore. In our day to day developer life, it actually just changes stuff.”
