FromSoftware has “creative control” on Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

While people were hoping for a sequel to Bloodborne to be announced at E3 2018, it was a surprise to see FromSoftware announced Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice instead. Likewise, it was another surprise to see FromSoftware team up with Activision to publish the game. Stevivor used a recent interview with FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki to discuss how the relationship came about.

“[We] basically had an idea for this game. [We] talked to a bunch of publishers and right off the bat, Activision was super excited about this idea,” Miyazaki said.

“Not only did Activision like it, but Activision also was like, ‘We need to make this together.’ That was the feeling [I] got.

“[We] also appreciated that Activision’s stance was ‘You guys have creative control. You guys do what you do and we will support you with everything that we’ve got.’ We’ve made that stance very clear and because of that stance, [we] felt very good about entering into the whole thing. Since we’ve started and we’ve come all this way, we are still all just as excited about it and it’s been going forth exactly as we had planned so we’re super excited to be working together.”

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 next year. For more with Hidetaka Miyazaki, head here.
