PSA: Redfall has a number of Achievements with 17 Gamerscore

If that sort of thing bugs you, be warned.

Just a general PSA to Gamerscore hunters out there: Redfall has a number of Achievements that will award you with 17 Gamerscore.

A total of 20 Achievements offer up 17 Gamerscore each, meaning those of us who like their Gamerscore ending in a 0 or 5 will have to earn 5 or 10 of the Achievements to keep sane.

In our experience, these 17 Gamerscore Achievements are tied to specific actions within missions — missions that aren’t playable a second time after you’ve finished them — and the completion of all side quests within a map. Another set is earned through co-op, seemingly.

Worryingly, I’m one Achievement short — 9 of 20 — because I think the Burial Point map bugged out on me and I wasn’t able to activate a side quest that’s sitting with an NPC, as shown in the image above. While the side quest marker is present above the nurse in question, I can’t get him to provide me with the quest at the time of writing. That, and because I’ve finished the game, I no longer have access to Burial Point unless I start a second playthrough, or potentially pick the mission up with a friend in co-op.

While a Bethesda representative has told Stevivor that Achievements with Gamerscore that aren’t divisible by 5 isn’t uncommon, they’ve promised to circle back with Arkane Austin so we can try to have a larger discussion on the matter.

While we realise that this isn’t something that bothers every single gamer out there, it’s certainly a pet peeve for many of us. You can read a big piece I wrote back in 2018 on why random-numbered Achievements are bad if you’re after more information.

Expect Redfall from 2 May on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. The title will also be part of Xbox and PC Game Pass. We previewed it here.
