Resident Evil 2 safe combinations: Be the Master of Unlocking

Resident Evil 2 is out now, and as part of our coverage, we’re here to help you crack into every safe in Raccoon City.

We’ll try to make our guides as spoiler free as possible — story beats will largely be skipped, but item and room names won’t be — so rest assured we won’t ruin anything for you. With that in mind, let’s get to it!

Unlike some aspects of the game, safe combinations are the same no matter who you’re playing as. You’ll get different items depending on your character, however.

Resident Evil 2 safe combinations

RPD West Office (1F) safe combination

The first safe you’ll encounter is in the West Office — and if you followed our guide for the 1-Shot Demo, you’ll know that the combination is the same: left 9, right 15, left 7.

Want to know where to find the safe combination? Easy — it’s in a document called Internal Memo, found behind Wesker’s Desk in the S.T.A.R.S. Office.

The safe will reward you with a Hip Pouch, opening up two extra inventory slots. If it’s your first increase, you’ll earn the Hip to Add Squares Achievement/Trophy. If this is the first safe you’ve unlocked, you’ll also earn the First Break-In Achievement or Trophy.

RPD Waiting Room (2F) safe combination

The next safe you’ll encounter is the one in the 2F east Waiting Room. It’s behind the reception-style desk.

The code for this safe? Easy: left 6, right 2, left 11.

We got the safe combination from a document called Confiscation Report, found on a file cabinet in the Observation Room.

The safe will provide a Muzzle Break (Matlida) for Leon and a High-Capacity Mag. (JMB Hp3) for Claire. Time to upgrade your weaponry!

Sewers Treatment Pool Room (Middle) safe combination

The third and final safe is found in the Middle floor of the Sewers, in the Treatment Pool Room. The combination for the safe is found on its right-hand side: left 2, right 12, left 8.

How do we know that? There’s a document called Delivery Receipt toward the Cable Car Platform that says that the safe and its combo are both new… and that the code should be erased promptly. Guess no one got around to it.

The safe contains a Shotgun Stock (W-870) for Leon and a Reinforced Frame (SLS 60) for Claire. Upgrades are great!

If you’ve unlocked all three safes — and all the other padlocks and portable safes in the game too — you’ll be awarded with the Master of Unlocking Achievement or Trophy. Congratulations!
