BioWare’s Michael Gamble, Producer on Mass Effect: Andromeda, told Stevivor that a virtual reality add-on isn’t planned for the game.
This year, titles like Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Star Wars: Battlefront added free VR experiences to those with compatible headsets — Jackal Assault and Rogue One: X-Wing Mission respectively — but Andromeda won’t continue the trend.
“It would be cool,” Gamble admitted. “All I would say is that we would never want to quote, unquote ‘port’ a Mass Effect game to VR. We would want to create a custom experience, if we were to ever do it.”
Stressing that “there’s no plans right now to do” a Mass Effect virtual reality affair, Gamble said that, “if we were to do it, we would want to do a very custom-created experience.”
Gamble also admitted that the idea of an add-on using Andromeda‘s hero ship, the Tempest, “is a really cool one.”
Mass Effect: Andromeda heads to Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4 next year.
