Watch_Dogs’ ctOS companion app goes live on Android and iOS

The wait is over as Watch_Dogs launches today for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One (with the Wii U version coming later). Ubisoft has announced that alongside the main game, it is releasing a free mobile companion app for Android and iOS.

The Watch_Dogs Companion: ctOS Mobile app is completely free and doesn’t contain micro-transactions of any kind. Players do not need to own Watch_Dogs to make use of the app nor do they need a Uplay account, but by signing in any rewards earned in the app transfer over to the full game.

The app includes two modes; Race and Free Ride. As players on console and PC race in either mode, app users are able to hack objects throughout Chicago to hinder Watch_Dogs players. They’re able to trigger explosions, raise barricades and even call in police snipers in helicopters. If the app users can stop the racers they win.

The app includes 26 challenges — 13 for each mode — and a map editor to create custom challenges. The app lets users play with friends on either PSN or Xbox Live as well as participate in quick matches with random players.

The app is available on iTunes now and is expected to go live for Android later today.

Watch_Dogs is available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One today, 27 May. A Wii U version will launch later this year.
