Nintendo have laid out their plans for the rest of the year, announcing release dates for their much anticipated Super Smash Bros. Wii U and the accompanying Amiibo figures, Nintendo’s answer to Skylanders and Disney Infinity.
Super Smash Bros. Wii U will be out 6 December, with an RRP of $79.95 AUD and a special edition that contains the Gamecube controller adapter retailing for $89.95 AUD. The Gamecube controller adapter will support both the standard wired Gamecube controller and the wireless WaveBird. Conveniently Super Smash Bros. branded Gamecube controllers will also go on sale that day for $49.95 AUD.
A week before that on 29 November the Amiibo figures will make their debut. Twelve characters will be included in that initial release, Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Pikachu, Kirby, Marth and for some reason the Wii Fit Trainer and creatively named Villager. A second wave arriving 12 December features Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.
The Amiibo figures will work immediately with Super Smash Bros. Wii U, with support planned for Mario Kart 8, Super Smash Bros. 3DS, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10 and Yoshi’s Woolly World. All Amiibo figures have a (slightly steep) RRP of $17.95 AUD.
