Fallout 4 release date so close to announcement as development is almost complete

According to Bethesda’s Pete Hines, the announcement of Fallout 4’s release date being so close to the actual date is due to the game’s development being almost complete.

In an interview with Games Radar Hines said that the shorter than normal time frame was due to the stature of Fallout in the community. “If we didn’t feel like that was enough time to generate the excitement that we expected and the interest that we wanted, then we would have announced it earlier. So part of it is because we felt like it was a big enough title that we could get away with it,” he said.

Hines also admitted that Bethesda was enjoying holding back on the announcement for so long and being able to give lots of information at once. “It’s really fun to get this far into development and not say anything and then go ‘Boo! Here’s all this stuff. Here’s what we’re up to’. Which isn’t even all the full monty it’s just a big wide picture.” Hines also revealed that development on the title is “pretty close to being done.”

Fallout 4 will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on 10 November 2015.
