Players won’t encounter loading screens while free roaming in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

While free roaming in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt Red has promised that players won’t encounter a loading screen except when booting up the game or unless they die or fast travel.

Speaking with GameSpot, Senior Environment Artist Jonas Mattsson, said that the entire world can be explored without needing to fast travel with the exception of one area that’s surrounded by water and far removed from the main world.

“Kaer Morhen [a region to the north]. That’s a separate small level as well there. But on the full open world, there’s no loading time. You can travel and roam around as you wish,” he said, adding, “There’s no loading times. Only when you actually start the game, when die and load the game, or when you fast travel. That fast travel loading time depends on how far you have to travel of course. If you just fast travel a little bit, it’s a really short loading time.”

Mattson said that it was really important to the team to ensure there were no loading times and revealed that even going in and out of buildings won’t make players face a load screen.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One 19 May 2015.
