Konami financial results highlight Pro Evo 15 and Ground Zeroes PC success

Konami has joined the publishing financial results season, revealing encouraging sales of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Pro Evolution Soccer 15.

While the Konami digital entertainment division saw net revenue slightly down year over year, operating income for the division was up 40% and accounted for a majority of total operating income for the company. It shows that games are still an important part of Konami, even with their ventures in Health Clubs, Pachinko and the slot machine form of ‘Gaming’. Other interesting points from the presentation include:

  • Over 60% of Konami sales are from Playstation platforms
  • Just under half of their sales are accounted for by Soccer games (Pro Evolution Soccer and mobile soccer titles)
  • Europe accounts for the most sales with 2.48 million, just ahead of the Americas (1.94m) and Japan (1.8m)
  • Of the 17 titles listed as released or upcoming from October 2014 through 2015, only two will be available globally, the other 15 cover Japanese arcades and mobile games

Konami specifically pointed to solid PC sales of Ground Zeroes and the positive critical reception of Pro Evolution Soccer 15. 2015 should be an even better year for the company, as the first core Metal Gear Solid game since 2008 will arrive.
