Microsoft has just confirmed Spotify on Xbox, days after the application was rumoured to be available.
“Starting today, Spotify is available on Xbox One in 34 markets around the world,” wrote Spotify’s Mikael Ericsson in a new post on Xbox Wire. “The new integration means that millions of Xbox One gamers can now choose the perfect music from Spotify to provide a fresh gaming soundtrack every time.”
Australia has been confirmed as one of the 34 markets Ericsson detailed, joining the likes of Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Columbia, Czech Republic, Germany, Finland, France, Denmark, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, the UK and the USA.
The experience will mirror that on PlayStation, offering regular and Platinum subscribers the chance to play music from Spotify’s full catalogue of 30 million tracks. Background play is also supported, as is the ability to change songs from another device linked to Spotify.
To celebrate the release, a special playlist curated by Xbox’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb is also available to play.
