Xbox Series S won’t use Xbox One X Enhancements in back compat

The Xbox Series S will not run Xbox One games in backwards compatibility with Xbox One X Enhancements, Microsoft has recently confirmed.

“To deliver the highest quality backwards compatible experience consistent with the developer’s original intent, the Xbox Series S runs the Xbox One S version of backward compatible games while applying improved texture filtering, higher and more consistent frame rates, faster load times and Auto HDR,” a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed with GameSpew.

Despite a lack of Xbox One X Enhancements like 4K, the Series S equivalents will certainly look better than they would on an Xbox One S. Priced at $499 AUD and able to run games in 1440p at 120 frames-per-second (FPS), it’s still a damn good value proposition.
