Xbox One user interface gets another facelift from today

Xbox’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb and Mike Ybarra today detailed sweeping changes to the Xbox One user interface.

The new Xbox dashboard is horizontal rather than vertical, and has four main areas in its primary screen: your last activity, two suggestions (friends, activities, features) and an advertisement. Along the bottom of the primary screen is access to your library, your last three activities… and then more ads. Items like Pins and further customisation are accessible on pages accessible below the primary one, called content blocks.

The Xbox Guide has also been tweaked to ensure speedy response times. Again, tabs are horizontal rather than vertical.

Take a look at the new dashboard and Guide below:

The new Xbox dashboard will be pushed out to Insiders in the Alpha ring today, and to others time progresses.

Over on Windows 10, the Game Bar’s been beefed up a bit, allowing access to a Game Mode switch, Mixer sound toggles and more. Changes to the Xbox app on Windows 10 will be pushed out to all immediately.

What do you think of the revamped Xbox One user interface?
