Xbox One Preview Program: New update includes Arena, Achievement rarity

Xbox’s Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hryb took to his blog today to detail new enhancements heading to those inside the Xbox One Preview Program.

First, the new Arena system will bring Esports directly to the console, allowing players to organise and compete in online tournaments. The first title to support Arena — in a preview of limited functionality — will be Killer Instinct. Only those in the United States will be able to participate in tournaments at rollout, though Microsoft plans to bring the feature to other regions in October.

Moreover, a PlayStation-like view will now allow users to see the rarity of their latest Achievements. The system will add the feature in the Achievements app alongside on-screen pop-ups — a diamond symbol will display the percentage of users who also have the Achievement.

Finally, enhancements have been made to last month’s LFG functionality; users can now schedule a game up to a week in advance.
