Xbox Entertainment Studios may live on through a partnership with Warner Bros.

The Hollywood Reporter today reports that Xbox Entertainment Studios, Microsoft’s recently-downsized department dedicated to original television content, may thrive again through a partnership with Warner Bros.

While The Hollywood Reporter says that the partnership is ultimately “unlikely”, it shows Microsoft’s intention to keep Xbox Entertainment Studios alive in one form or another.

The partnership, if successful, would have Xbox Entertainment Studios merging with the WB-owned Machinima channel. Machinima and Microsoft have partnered in the past for projects such as Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn.

Xbox Entertainment Studios is currently producing a Halo television series alongside the Halo: Nightfall miniseries and live-action segments in Quantum Break.
