Xbox captures will soon delete themselves after 90 days

But you can automatically back them up!

Xbox captures will soon automatically delete themselves from your storage after 90 days, though there are options to backup your screenshots and videos so you’ve always got them.

“Due to a new policy starting October 1st, 2023, existing and new captures on the Xbox Network will automatically be deleted after 90 days,” Microsoft said to Xbox owners who launch the Xbox App on PC or the Captures app on Xbox consoles.

“The first deletions will start in January 2024,” Microsoft continued. “To back up your game captures before they’re gone, select Get Started below.”

The “Get Started” prompt mentioned will provide users the chance to back up existing content on OneDrive, or even copy captures to an external hard drive. Future captures can automatically be uploaded as a OneDrive backup.
