Xbox and Halo 20th anniversary event confirmed by Microsoft

Eyes up, Chief.

An Xbox and Halo 20th anniversary digital broadcast will take place on 16 November here in Australia, honouring the launch of Microsoft’s first console and the iconic sci-fi FPS that came alongside it.

Set for 10.00 am PT on 15 November in the USA, that means Aussies can tune in from 4.00 am AEDT on 16 November locally.

“We invite you to join us on November 15 to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Xbox and Halo with a fun, digital broadcast for fans around the globe,” Microsoft’s Matt Booty told Stevivor in a statement ahead of an Xbox Wire post. “While we won’t announce any new games, this anniversary broadcast will be a special look back at 20 years of Xbox.”

We’ll update this story as we learn more of the event.

The original Xbox and its killer app Halo Combat Evolved both debuted on 15 November 2001. Happy almost anniversary to both (and to Microsoft and Bungie!)!

Update: You can watch the Xbox anniversary livestream below — it truly kicks off at 5.00 am AEDT on 16 November. Enjoy!
