World of Tanks 1.0 goes live this afternoon

Update: Wargaming has changed the dates of the Grand Extravaganza event. We’ve amended them in the story below.

Original story: World of Tanks 1.0 will be available later today in Australia and New Zealand, Wargaming has confirmed.

Update 1.0 will be available from 3.00 pm AEDT, “unleashing Wargaming’s high-end Core graphics engine exclusive for PC players,” the developer has advised. As part of the update, 29 reworked battlefields will be offered alongside improved visuals, a new soundtrack and new Glacier map.

“Update 1.0 improves the baseline technology for the game, introducing the in-house developed Wargaming Core graphics engine,” said Milos Jerabek, Development Director for World of Tanks on PC. “Thanks to it, we’re now capable of elevating the entire game and can ensure World of Tanks is a fun and immersive experience for years to come.”

The Grand Extravaganza — “a two-week long marathon full of battling and rewards” — will celebrate update 1.0, available from 30 March until 14 April.

World of Tanks is also available on Xbox One and PS4.
