Windows 10 Xbox app is now the Xbox Console Companion

Microsoft is doing its best to make Xbox a service rather than just a console, this time transforming the PC’s Xbox app into an Xbox One Console Companion.

“Pardon our dust,” a what’s new message advised. “This app is being renamed to Xbox Console Companion to be a dedicated app for your Xbox console’s features and settings. A new desktop experience is coming soon and requires an up to date version of Windows, so be sure to update to the Windows 10 May 2019 Update and stay tuned for the latest.”

Prior to the ongoing app name and feature change, Microsoft also changed up the Xbox Game Bar to cater toward PC players. Rather than via the Xbox Console Companion, the Game Bar now provides access to recording and capture functionality alongside Xbox Parties and more. You can try out the Xbox Game Bar on PC via the Windows Key + G.

We’ll let you know when the fancy new Xbox desktop experience is available to try.
