Windows 10 will have a staggered release, heading to PCs first

Microsoft will launch Windows 10 as a staggered release, with the operating system heading to PC first, then platforms like HoloLens and Xbox.

“There are devices and features that will come not on launch date, but following it,” Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore said at Microsoft’s recent Build conference, as reported by The Verge.

“From the device view, our main focus is to kick off the Windows 10 launch wave with a great launch on the PC,” he continued. “You should expect that the other devices — phone, HoloLens, Xbox, Surface Hub — will be staggered, probably not on the same date as the PC.”

A firm release date has yet to be set, but many expect Windows 10 on PCs around July.
