WD Black 1TB Xbox Series expansion card spotted at Best Buy

Will we soon have choice when it comes to expanded storage?

A WD Black 1TB Xbox Series expansion card was briefly spotted on the Best Buy website ahead of an official confirmation of the product by Western Digital.

The new product means that consumers will soon have choice when it comes to expanded storage on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X; at present, only Seagate offers ways to increase storage capacity.

The WD expansion card was listed as “coming soon” on Best Buy and was set at a retail price of $179.99 USD. That’s a teeny bit cheaper than Seagate’s 1TB offering, currently priced at $200 USD (or a whopping $359 AUD).

While generic USB expandable storage can be used to house most Xbox games, only compatible SSD storage can play current-gen titles. That means players can store those games on their internal memory or shell out for these proprietary expansion cards. On PlayStation 5, players have choice to install myriad compatible SSD drives.

What do you think about more choice in future when it comes to Xbox Series storage?
