USA’s FTC to investigate video game loot boxes

The USA’s Federal Trade Commission, or FTC, is the latest organisation to pledge an investigation into video game loot boxes.

FTC Chairman Joseph Simmons recently told the U.S. Congress that the group will looks into the potential harm caused to children by loot boxes.

The investigation appears to have been spearheaded by the actions of US Senator Maggie Hassan, who has labelled loot boxes as “endemic”.

This investigation will join similar ones undertaken by professional organisations around the world, including Belgium and of course, Australia.

We’ll keep you posted on the FTC’s progress.
