Twitch subscription pricing to increase from March

Australia is one country impacted by the price change.

Twitch subscription pricing will be increased for the first time ever in countries including Australia, the streaming company has recently confirmed.

Those in Australia, the UK, Canada, and Turkey will see price increases, with Turkey facing the largest price hikes.

From 28 March, Tier 1 subscriptions and gift subscriptions in Australia, the UK, and Canada will increase by one local dollar. In Australia, that means a change from $8 AUD to $9 AUD,  or $7 CAD to $8 CAD in Canada, or finally £5 to £6 in the UK. Subscriptions in Tiers 2 and 3 are not impacted by the price increases.

Over in Turkey, all three tier subscriptions will be impacted. Tier 1 subs will change from 9.90 lira to 43.90 lira, as an example of the change.

Twitch said the increases will “help streamer revenue keep pace with rising costs and reflect local currency fluctuations” in a blog post.

“These updates apply only to subscriptions purchased on desktop or mobile web,” Twitch added. “We’ll be updating prices on mobile apps in the coming months.”
