Twitch has been compromised; change those passwords!

Whoops!

Twitch has been compromised, with an anonymous hacker posting a 126GB torrent intending to “foster more disruption and competition in the online video streaming space.”

The information posted to 4chan includes what appears to be an entirety of Twitch itself, with history going back to the beginning of the platform.

Also included is the source code for Twitch’s console, mobile and desktop clients, alongside information on proprietary SDKs and internal AWS services used by the platform. Creator payout reports dating back to 2019 were also included.

Interestingly, the drop also contains details of an unreleased Steam competitor developed by Amazon Game Studios.

The hacker has promised future drops with more information.

Update: Twitch has confirmed it’s been hacked.

“We can confirm a breach has taken place,” the company said in a tweet. “Our teams are working with urgency to understand the extent of this. We will update the community as soon as additional information is available. Thank you for bearing with us.”

It shouldn’t needed to be said at this point, but if you use Twitch: go and change your password. Also, ensure you have two-factor authentication enabled and reset your stream key for good measure.
