Tim Willits will leave id Software after QuakeCon

Industry legend Tim Willits will leave id Software after committments at QuakeCon have been fulfilled, the developer has today declared.

“After 24 years, I’ve decided to leave id Software after QuakeCon,” Willits wrote on Twitter. “I’ve been extremely lucky to work with the best people in the industry on truly amazing games. QuakeCon has been an unbelievable part of my journey and I look forward to seeing everyone at the Gaylord Texan.”

During his tenure at the developer, Willits worked on titles like Quake, Doom 3, Rage, Quake Champions, Rage 2 and Doom Eternal. Willits says he will advise of future plans after QuakeCon; that event runs between 25-28 July.
