THQ Nordic owns Amalur IP, but EA owns its only game

While THQ Nordic has purchased the Kingdoms of Amalur IP, it has confirmed it doesn’t have the rights to the franchise’s only game, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.

“EA still has the publishing rights to Reckoning,” a THQ Nordic rep told Eurogamer.

This means any attempt at remastering and re-releasing Reckoning would need approval from EA beforehand.

“At this stage we ‘only’ acquired the intellectual property,” the THQ Nordic rep continued. “Given our track record, we know what the burning questions (remaster, remake, port to current-gen systems etc.) are, but we decided [to] not answer those specifically as we tend to put our heads together first and then do our homework, and only start to talk about anything once we feel confident and very familiar with the franchise.”

THQ Nordic acquired the Kingdoms of Amalur IP last week.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was published by EA in 2012; we reviewed it here.
