Third PS5 price hike: PS5 is $1000 AUD, PS5 Pro is $1400 AUD

Sony has announced another set of PS5 price hikes, making the base PS5 $1,000 AUD and the PS5 Pro $1,400 AUD within Australia. Sony has previously raised the price of the PS5 in Australia two other times.

Australian pricing changes are as follows, in effect from 2 April 2026:

  • PlayStation Portal: $389.95 AUD (17% price difference; was $329.95)
  • PS5 Digital Edition: $919.95 AUD (20% price difference; was $749.95)
  • PS5 (with disc drive): $999.95 AUD (19% price difference; was $829.95)
  • PS5 Pro: $1,399.95 AUD (15% price difference; was $1,199.95)

“With continued pressures in the global economic landscape, we’ve made the decision to increase the prices of PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal remote player globally,” Sony said as part of an announcement late last night.

“We know that price changes impact our community, and after careful evaluation, we found this was a necessary step to ensure we can continue delivering innovative, high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide.”

United States of America PS5 price hike

  • PS5 – $649.99 
  • PS5 Digital Edition – $599.99 
  • PS5 Pro – $899.99
  • PlayStation Portal — $249.99

United Kingdom PS5 price hike

  • PS5 – £569.99 
  • PS5 Digital Edition – £519.99 
  • PS5 Pro – £789.99
  • PlayStation Portal — £219.99

Europe PS5 price hike

  • PS5 – €649.99 
  • PS5 Digital Edition – €599.99 
  • PS5 Pro – €899.99
  • PlayStation Portal — €249.99

Japan PS5 price hike

  • PS5 – ¥97,980 
  • PS5 Digital Edition – ¥89,980 
  • PS5 Pro – ¥137,980
  • PlayStation Portal — ¥39,980

As we mentioned previously, this is the third time that Sony has increased the price of the PS5 in Australia. The first increase was back in 2022, and the second in 2025.
