The Quarry has a rewind feature, 186 different endings

Supermassive’s The Quarry will have a rewind feature in case you stuff up… and that’s a good thing, because the game also has 186 different endings for players to discover.

Both revelations come from Supermassive’s Will Byles.

First, players will have the chance to rewind the game should they miss a quicktime event or make a decision they’re not fond of. It’s available right off the bat to those who spend big on the Deluxe Edition, or free to those who finish the game once.

“You’re essentially granted three ‘lives’ that enable you to avoid a character death at the cost of using one of the lives,” Byles told SegmentNext, describing the mechanic.

“You’ll be taken back to the moment you made a critical choice that results in the character’s death so that you can make a different choice.”

You’ll need to manage those three lives carefully if you want to head down a specific narrative branch to receive a specific ending.

“Those stories, as you kind of branch through, go wide and they start to come back in again. It’s kind of like the story itself is the variation, not always just the end,” Byles told IGN.

“We worked out 186 different endings for these characters. Not just alive or dead [but] a whole variation of things like what could happen to them, but the stories that can happen are massively varied,” he continued.

Expect The Quarry on 10 June 2022; the horror title will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4 and PS5.
