The PlayStation Network alone made more money than Nintendo last fiscal year

Looking at the financial results of both Sony and Nintendo, analyst (and Twitter user) ZhugeEX has declared that the PlayStation Network alone made more money last fiscal year than all of Nintendo.

Sony sold 17.7 million PS4s in the 2015-16 fiscal year, upping its install base to 40 million. PlayStation Plus subscriptions plus digital sales mean that claim is quite believable.

Nintendo recently announced that its new console, the NX, will be available in March 2017.
