The Finals Season 2 is all about hacking

New abilities, altered maps, and more.

The Finals will launch its second season from 14 March, with a theme that revolves around hacking.

“The game show has been compromised by the rogue hacking collective CNS, and showrunners are scrambling to decipher their cryptic messages — but one thing is clear: the show must go on,” wrote Dusty Gustafsson of developer Embark Studios.

“On top of new weapons to spice up the loadout of each class, viewers and contestants alike can keep an eye out for game-changing additions that are likely to disrupt the game show,” Gustafsson continued. “The hacker collective has infiltrated the source code to add gadgets and abilities, alter maps, and even enter unauthorized contestants.”

Included in the season is a hacked and voxelised new map, limited-time game modes, and a new 5v5 game mode. A handful of new gadgets — one for each class — will also be offered.

A studio comprised of many former Battlefield developers, Embark Studios launched The Finals back in December of last year. If you’ve not played it, it has a little bit of a Running Man vibe (which we really dig) joined with verticality, engaging shooting, and Battlefield-style destruction.

The Finals is currently available on Windows PC, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and PS5. Season 2 heads to all platforms from 14 March.
