Tantalus establishes new studio in Brisbane

Melbourne-based no longer... at least, not exclusively.

The Melbourne-based Tantalus Media is expanding to Queensland with a new studio to be based in Brisbane.

“The new Brisbane-based AAA digital games studio, Tantalus North, confirmed its establishment as a direct result of the Screen Queensland incentive, which is the most competitive in Australia and provides a 15 per cent rebate for eligible games that spend a minimum of $250,000 in the state,” Screen Queensland revealed in a press release.

“This is an incredible and rare opportunity to place our state’s most talented developers on some of the world’s biggest AAA games, being developed right here in Queensland,” said Head of Studio, Kendra Fairbairn McCarthy.

“Thanks to the support of Screen Queensland, Trade and Investment Queensland and The Precinct, Tantalus North has the chance to empower the current generation of developers, as well as prepare the next, and secure Queensland’s status as a premium entertainment destination for years to come.”

Tantalus’ most recent title was a port of The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD on Nintendo Switch. We reviewed that title here.
