Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Director Masahiro Sakurai has taken to a YouTube video to explain what the franchise’s logo represents.
It’s not just a shadow from a window, folks, nor a representation of the effect that’s displayed when you knock a character off-screen.
On a video posted to Nintendo Japan’s YouTube channel, as translated by Kyle McLain, Sakurai has confirmed the game’s simple, plus sign-like logo is meant to represent both the crossover nature of the franchise as well as it’s four-player capabilities.
(We’ll just ignore the fact that the latest game in the franchise now supports eight players on Switch).
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available now on Nintendo Switch. We reviewed it here, awarding it a 9.5/10.
