Steam Deck now properly in sale in Australia

About time!

The Steam Deck will finally — and properly — be available for sale inside Australia from this November, Valve today announced at PAX AUS.

Australians can buy a Steam Deck right this second through the grey market — that’s a purchase that’s legal but not approved by the manufacturer, and potentially opening up the buyer to problems is the product is defective.

Purchases will be authorised by Valve, and through Steam, almost a whopping three years after Valve promised us that we would be able to get our hands on the handheld.

Timing aside, here’s what a Steam Deck will set you back:

  • 256 GB: $649 AUD
  • 512 GB OLED: $899 AUD
  • 1TB OLED: $1,049 AUD

Update: Valve has today confirmed that Australians can purchase the Steam Deck from 19 November. Learn more here.

Are you planning on picking up a Steam Deck when they properly go on sale next month? Head to the comments and tell us why or why not.
