Star Wars Battlefront 2 microtransactions back in a “few months”

Star Wars Battlefront 2 microtransactions will be back “in the next few months,” EA’s Blake Jorgensen has confirmed.

Jorgensen made the confirmation with the Wall Street Journal, bundling the re-introduction of the (hated) microtransactions with the game’s financial results.

According to WSJBattlefront 2 has underperformed, selling around 9 million copies, or 1 million less than EA expected. Jorgensen said that EA expected to sell between 1-3 million more units by the end of the 2018 fiscal year.

Jorgensen also confirmed that 37% of Battlefront 2′s sales were made up of digital downloads.

Microtransactions were pulled from Battlefront 2 over preview backlash, mere hours before the game’s release.

What do you make of the re-introduction of microtransactions into Star Wars: Battlefront 2? The title is available now on Windows PC, Xbox One and PS4. We reviewed it here.
