Star Trek Prodigy Supernova gameplay shows combat focus

Hopefully that's not all it offers...

Star Trek Prodigy Supernova gameplay is now available and centres around combat.

The gameplay video, shown below, features Dal and Gywn using phasers and melee weaponry to take out robotic enemies.

“After the U.S.S. Protostar picks up strange readings from a dying star, Dal and Gwyn must race against time to save their friends, their ship, and an entire planetary system before a supernova destroys them all,” reads a synopsis.

“Using their unique skills to overcome ingenious puzzles, endure hostile environments and battle deadly robot armies, Dal and Gwyn must save their captured crewmates Jankom Pog, Rok-Tahk, Zero and Murf. But they soon encounter a deadly new enemy, one that will stop at nothing to destroy the U.S.S. Protostar and change the very course of history!”

Prodigy itself is Star Trek‘s first show designed for children and has an emphasis on allegorical stories; we’re hoping there’s a little more nuance than just fighting bad guys inside Supernova.

Developed by Tessera and published by Outright Games, Star Trek Prodigy Supernova heads to Windows PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PS4, PS5 and Switch on 15 October here in Australia. If the TV show is more your thing, it returns to Paramount+ in late October.
