Star Trek Lower Decks ends with Season 5, Strange New Worlds renewed

Good news and bad news for Star Trek fans.

It’s a bittersweet day for Star Trek fans, with Paramount confirming that Star Trek Lower Decks will end with Season 5, while Star Trek Strange New Worlds will continue into Season 4.

“We wanted to let you know that this fall will be the fifth and final seasons of Star Trek: Lower Decks,” reads a social media post directed to fans from Lower Decks showrunner Mike McMahon and Star Trek head Alex Kurtzman.

“While five seasons of any series these days seems like a miracle, it’s no exaggeration to say that every second we’ve spent making this show has been a dram come true.

“Our incredible cast, crew and artists have given you everything they have because they love the characters they play, they love the world we’ve build, and more than anything we all love love love Star Trek.”

The notice also confirmed that all previous episodes of Lower Decks will remain on Paramount+ (unlike Star Trek Prodigy).

Paramount also confirmed that Strange New Worlds has been greenlit for a fourth season before its third even airs.

“On behalf of the cast and crew of Strange New Worlds we are thrilled and grateful to continue our voyages together,” reads a statement. “We can’t wait for you to join us and the crew of the Enterprise on another season of exploration and adventure.”

Airdates for Star Trek Lower Decks Season 5 or Star Trek Strange New Worlds Season 3 have not yet been detailed, nor has the airdate of Star Trek Prodigy Season 2 on Netflix. You can watch the latter in France, however.
