Star Trek head Kurtzman on Legacy: “We’ve heard fans loud and clear”

So make it so?

Star Trek head Alex Kurtzman has responded to fan demand for the continuation of the franchise’s 25th Century storyline through Star Trek Legacy, saying he’s heard fans “loud and clear”.

“Anything is possible,” Kurtzman told Fox LA.

‘We’ve heard the fans loud and clear. There’s obviously more story to tell. So, we’ll see.”

Fans have taken to social media with #StarTrekLegacy asking for further storytelling, also demanding Picard Season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas be involved. Matalas has previously told fans they should follow that tact if they want a 25th Century sequel.

“Alex [Kurtzman] and I talk all the time,” Matalas told Variety in regards to Legacy.

“If it’s something that’s going to be done, we want to make sure we don’t rush into it,” he continued. “We want to make sure we do it right. That’s where we’re at with it, I say coyly. At the moment, there’s nothing developed on it. But we talk all the time.”

Star Trek currently has four active shows. Two are live-action — Strange New Worlds’ Season 2 kicks off in June while Discovery‘s Season 5 will be its last. The other two — Lower Decks and Prodigyare animated. A new Starfleet Academy live-action show was just announced and is in early stages of production, while Michelle Yeoh will return to the franchise in a special live action Section 31 TV movie.

If you ask us, those two newest entries in the Star Trek universe could be canned to make room for Legacy. What do you think?

All of Star Trek Picard Season 3 is now available on Paramount Plus in the USA; it’s also on Paramount+ and Amazon Prime here in Australia.
