Spotify for Xbox spotted on the Microsoft Store

Rumours that Spotify would soon head to Xbox One have been bolstered by an app listing on the Microsoft Store.

As spotted by Reddit, the USA Microsoft Store currently has an entry for Spotify Music – for Xbox here. The 1.67MB download sports screenshots that look remarkably similar to PlayStation Music featuring Spotify. The streaming giant took over Sony’s music app back in March 2015 on both PS3 and PS4.

Entries for Spotify Music – for Xbox have also appeared on Microsoft’s training portals of late, though Spotify nor Microsoft have made comment as yet.

At present, the app cannot be found via search on the Xbox One itself, and those who access the link via PC cannot install the app remotely to their console. The listing does confirm that a Premium subscription isn’t required for the app, and that users can “change tunes from your mobile or tablet without leaving the game,” suggesting it will support background tunes like Microsoft’s own Groove Music.
