Spider-Man 2 release date set for 20 October

Alongside a special edition console?

Update: The Spider-Man 2 release date has been set for 20 October, a new trailer at Summer Game Fest has revealed.

The news comes alongside a bit of gameplay detail and a new trailer, which is below.

Original story: The Spider-Man 2 release date has been set for 8 September, according to two posts published and then deleted on both Eurogamer and VGC.

Eurogamer led the charge with a post yesterday which not only named the release date, but a special edition Spider-Man 2 PS5 complete with “red cover plates emblazoned with the Spider-Man logo – all being bothered by a bunch of Symbiote tendrils”.

The post was deleted relatively quickly afterward, and didn’t detail how the information was obtained.

VGC followed suit with a post of its own, also deleted at the time of writing, that credited Insomniac Games with the information. In addition to a confirmation of the same information — the 8 September release date and special edition console — VGC also stated that pre-orders for Spider-Man 2 will begin on 9 June.

This news comes just days after a big gameplay reveal that took place as part of the PlayStation Showcase 2023.

Spider-Man 2 is expected on 20 October 2023 on PS5.
